Francis E. Drury built a replica of his Millionaire’s Row mansion on a 130 acre plot of land in Gates Mills as his retirement home. Once completed in 1925, Drury and his wife, Julia, planned a ‘coming out’ party that never happened. Eighty-six years later, the historic Tudor House (on the campus of Gilmour Academy) was the site of the 2011 Ohio Chapter Patrons of the Arts of the Vatican Museums Holiday Party. This event more than made up for the Drury’s missed outing.
Attendees enjoyed a cocktail reception and dinner in the stylishly decorated mansion. Members of the 8th grade honor choir from St. Stanislaus Elementary School performed for the attendees during the cocktail reception. Pianist Tim Hunt and guitarist Alvin Whitehead entertained during dinner.
Among our guests at the Holiday Party was Fr. Mark Haydu, the International Director of the Patrons of the Arts in the Vatican Museums, who thanked the Ohio Chapter for their support over the past 6 years and announced that there will be a total of 22 chapters throughout the U.S. and Europe in 2012.
Awards were also presented by Lorraine Dodero to Ohio Chapter members of 5 or more years. The awardees included: Mr. and Mrs. William Dodero, Miss Corinne Dodero, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Frankino, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Brunini, Mr. and Mrs. Gary Wygant, Mr. Joseph Weinstein, Mrs. Carole Carr, Mr. and Mrs. Mark Hoefler and Family, Mr. and Mrs. George Szeretvai, Mr. George Beckman, Miss Cheryl Nicholson, Mr. James Preziosi, Mr. Umberto Fedeli, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Pine, Mrs. Elvera Gruttadauria and Dr. Santa Casciani.
